2012 Futurities
The Who, What, Where & How
Nags was the first group to introduce the concept of the
futurity to dressage in Queensland! These much anticipated classes are run on the Friday of our Sunshine Coast
Dressage Championships ** in September each year.
The idea of a futurity is to get a glimpse of the up and coming
horses about to step up into competition at either Novice, Medium, Prix St Georges or Grand Prix
level.
Nags futurities are JACKPOT classes, meaning that entry
money is pooled for the class, and then this forms the prizemoney available down to 10th place for that
Futurity. In previous years winners of the Novice futurity have taken home as much as $900! The more
entries, the more prizemoney! Placegetters also get a special sash to 10th place.
You MUST be nominate your horse/pony by the close of
nominations in March each year, (although you do not need to provide a name if you don't have a horse/pony as yet),
and you must confirm your intention to compete in the futurity by sending in an entry form for the championships by
the close of entries in August. No confirmation = No ride.
The futurities are open to ANY horse (EA registered or
not) that have never competed in an Official class at that level
before the close of nominations in March.
